A hilarious tale of a practical-joking father who invades the life of his workaholic daughter. A sign of a good feature is when it doesn't feel as long as its running time. Toni Erdmann runs at just under three hours; it went by in a flash.

That it employs a rigged camera only grated in the opening act, during some of the wobblier moments. Thereafter my mind adjusted to the technique and was rewarded with a superb, intelligent, and moving comedy. Highly recommended.
