It was always going to be a struggle to follow-up 2015's The Lego Movie. This Batman spin-off has its hilarious moments, particularly when sending up previous incarnations of the caped crusader, but it is never as consistently funny as its predecessor.

I found the multi-layered dialogue dubbing a real distraction. (Could this have been a pointed creative choice in reaction to Nolan's Bale and Bane? Surely not.) And, unfortunately, the story just didn't hold me as it could have.
